CityTree
Air pollution is one of the biggest issues that cities face. Therefore, solutions to improve air quality are needed. Let us introduce you to the CityTree! This is the worlds first biotech filter that combines nature with IoT technology.
The CityTree purifies the air by using special moss cultures that bind particles such as fine dust and other pollutants. Moss is a natural raw material and compared to other filter systems, does not produce hazardous waste. IoT technology connects the moss and supports its nutrient and water provision to make it survive in the cities.
Sensors built into the CityTree send real-time information about filter performance and the condition of the mosses. Cities can visualize the data in the "AirCare" dashboard. The CityTree is developed based on the ecodesign guidelines. This places a special focus on sustainable materials management, a low CO2 footprint and energy efficiency.
Air purification and optimal network coverage
Purified air
The challenge
Reducing the pollutants in the air caused by traffic in the cities and industries.
The solution
The clever combination of nature and technology is like a miracle tree. The natural moss inside the CityTree removes fine dust particles from the air while simultaneously producing oxygen and moisture to produce an added cooling effect. A surrounding wooded bench also provides an additional seating area in the fresh air.

Better Network Coverage
The challenge
Cell phone usage is very high in the inner-city areas reducing quality of the network service. Cities need to expand their network infrastruture and improve the connectivity.
The solution
CityTrees can be equipped with emission tested mobile communications and network technology to additionally improve the digital infrastructure in city centers. In the vicinity of the CityTree, citizens can surf faster even with high cell phone utilization.
A unique combination
For a better quality of life in the inner-city area

Filter capacity
The CityTree filters air for up to 7,000 people (approx. m3 air/h) with the help of 8 moss modules. In one hour it converts particles that are potentially dangerous to health into biomass. This binds and reduces up to 80% of the fine dust from the air.
Continuous status monitoring
The built-in sensors generate real-time data, which provide comprehensive and continuous condition measurements. These enable an ideal maintenance (independent of seasons) and guarantee CityTree’s perpetual functionality.
